Real businesses.
Real outcomes.

We're a young studio, currently working closely with a small group of Winnipeg businesses to support their growth online. We treat each one like our only client — designing, coding and shipping work we're proud to put our name on.

Case studies will land here as soon as the first cohort goes live. In the meantime, if you'd like to be one of them — say hello.

The 7-day build

From a blank page
to a live site — in a week.

  1. Day 101

    Discovery

30-min call to understand your business, audience and goals. We confirm scope, timeline and a fixed price — no surprises.

  2. Day 202

    Direction

Wireframes and a one-page design direction. You get a Loom walkthrough; we revise once before going to high-fidelity.

  3. Day 3 — 403

    Build

We hand-write the entire site in production code. No page builders, no plugins you'll have to maintain forever.

  4. Day 504

    Content & polish

Copy pass, photography, microinteractions. Performance and accessibility get tuned to a 99+ Lighthouse score.

  5. Day 605

    Review

You walk through the staging site. Two rounds of revisions are baked into every project — most clients use one.

  6. Day 706

    Launch

We deploy, configure DNS, set up analytics, and hand you a tidy README. You own everything: code, content, hosting.

Why Portage Creek

A small studio that
treats your site like a craft.

We won't be the cheapest. We won't be the biggest. We will be the team that picks up the phone, ships on time, and writes code you'd be proud to read.

01

We write every line.

No drag-and-drop builders. No bloated themes. Custom HTML, CSS and (when needed) lightweight JS — yours to own forever.

02

Local, accountable, here.

We're in Winnipeg. You can call, text or grab a coffee. Most clients meet us in person; the rest meet us on Zoom in their timezone.

03

Fast — and stays fast.

Every site we ship scores 99+ on Lighthouse. Lean code means fewer hosting headaches and pages that load in well under a second.

04

Designed to convert.

We aren't fine artists; we're builders. Every layout choice has a job: more enquiries, more bookings, more sign-ups. We measure it.

05

One fixed price.

You get a single, transparent quote at kickoff. No mystery hourly retainers. No padding. We win when you ship on time and on budget.

06

Built to last.

Your site doesn't decay the second we hand it over. Hosting is yours, code is yours, content is yours. We're around if you want us — and out of the way if you don't.

Words from the prairies

Small team.
Loyal clients.

We're currently working with a handful of Winnipeg businesses, and the feedback so far has been generous. The words that keep coming back from our partners:
  • fast
  • honest
  • thoughtful
  • patient
  • tidy
  • responsive
  • easy to work with

We're not collecting screenshots and stars yet — we'd rather earn them. If you'd like to be one of our early partners, start a project with us and leave us a review when you're glad you did.

Pricing · CAD, no surprises

Fixed prices.
Honest scope.

Every project is quoted up-front and locked in writing. You'll never see a surprise invoice for “scope creep” — if the brief changes, we tell you what it costs before we touch the keyboard.

Frequently asked

Questions you
probably have.

Don't see yours? Email hello@portagecreekwebdesigns.com and you'll hear back the same day.

  1. 01Is one week really enough time to build a real website?

For most small-business sites, yes. We've shipped 10+ this way. The trick is tight scope, fixed price and no design-by-committee. If your project genuinely needs more time, we'll tell you on the first call.

  2. 02Why not just use Squarespace or Wix?

If a template fits, you should. We're a better fit when you want something that looks unmistakably yours, loads fast, ranks well, and isn't held hostage by a limited templater subscription. Custom-coded sites also age better — yours won't suddenly redesign itself when a builder pushes an update.

  3. 03Do you do hosting and maintenance?

Hosting is yours — we'll set you up on recommended platforms (most clients pay $0–20 a month). For maintenance, we offer optional monthly retainers, but most sites don't need them. The code is plain HTML/CSS/JS written in popular frameworks — any developer can pick it up.

  4. 04Can I edit content myself?

All tiers include HTML/CSS/JS codes for sites where the content rarely changes.

  5. 05I'm not in Winnipeg. Can you still work with me?

Yes. About a third of our clients are outside Manitoba and Canada. We work asynchronously over emails and online, with a couple of scheduled video checkpoints during the build week.

  6. 06What do you need from me to start?

A short brief about your business, any existing branding, and whoever signs off on decisions. We provide a one-page intake form — most clients fill it in over coffee.

We read everything ourselves. No automations, no marketing list.
